Since June 2008, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Covéa. Thierry Derez also holds the following positions ate :
- Assurances Mutuelles de France (AM), where he has been Chairman since May 2001,
- La Garantie Mutuelle des Fonctionnaires (GMF), where he has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
since June 2001,
- MAAF Assurances, where he has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since June 2005, and,
- MMA, where he has been Chairman since June 2007.
Managing Director, Customer Relationship
A graduate of ENSAE (National School of Statistics And Economic Administration) and a holder of a postgraduate degree in Marketing from "Université Paris IX Dauphine" and the CHEA (Advanced Insurance Studies Centre), Joaquim Pinheiro began his career in 1991 as Quality Project Manager and Project Manager on behalf of the project owner.
In 1996, he became head of the Customer Service department at GMF Vie, where he was appointed as Chief Executive Officer five years later.
In 2013, he was named Managing Director of MAAF Assurancess.
In February 2015, he was named Managing Director of Covéa AIS (Assistance Indemnisations Services – Indemnities Assistance Services), responsible for claims management for Covéa's three brands.
Since January 2018, he is Covéa group's Managing Director of Customer Relationship.
Managing Director, Offer and Customer Service
A "Corps des Mines" Engineer, graduate of the ENSAE school of engineering and actuary (Institut des Actuaires), Paul Esmein joined the "Autorité de Contrôle des Assurances et des Mutuelles" (regulatory authority for insurance and mutual companies – ACAM) in 2004, where he served as Insurance Commissioner-Supervisor.
In 2008, he joined the Treasury Department, where he held the positions of Assistant to the Head of the "Savings and financial markets" Office in charge of asset management and securitisation, Deputy Government Commissioner at the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (French financial markets authority – AMF), and then Head of the "Insurance companies and intermediaries" Office.
He joined Covéa in 2014, where he first served as Director of Inward Reinsurance in the Health & Personal Protection Department before becoming Head of the Chairman's office.
Since January 2018, he is Covéa group's Managing Director of Offer and Customer Service.
Managing Director, Finance
Maud Petit holds a Master's degree in Management Science (Panthéon - Sorbonne) and a degree in Advanced Accounting and Financial Studies.
She began her career in 1996 at Befec - Pricewaterhouse in the Audit - Financial Services department. In 2005, she joined France's accounting standards authority (Autorité des Normes Comptables) as Project Manager of the Insurance unit.
She joined Covéa in 2008 as the Group's Director of combined accounts. She was named Managing Director Accounts and Financial Communication in 2015.
Since January 2018, she is Covéa group's Managing Director of Finance.

Managing Director, Human Cooperation
After receiving a postgraduate degree in private law from Paris II University, Amaury de Hauteclocque chose to embrace a career as a commissaire de police (police inspector) in 1992. He joined the Paris criminal investigation unit as chief inspector for the Bel-Air district in that city's 12th arrondissement.
After briefly holding this first position, in 1994 he joined the crime squad at 36 quai des Orfèvres and then moved on to the drug squad. In October 2001, he became head of the counter-terrorism unit (SAT-PP). In 2005, he was named Deputy Chief of the Anti-Terrorism Coordination Unit.
From 2007 to 2012, he headed the Research, Assistance, Intervention, Dissuasion (RAID) unit. He then served as Deputy Director of International and Cross-Border Affairs and Security for the border police (PAF) until May 2013.
In September 2013, Amaury de Hauteclocque joined the Covéa Group as Director of Cooperative Strategies. He then was named Covéa Group's Director of Social Affairs and Identity and, together with his entire team, was involved in the signing of a Covéa common status, which applies to the Group's more than 21,000 employees in France since the 1st of January 2018.
Since January 2018, he is Covéa group's Managing Director of Human Cooperation.
Managing Director, MAAF
After graduating from the Montpellier business school in 1990, that same year Stéphane Duroule joined the Professional and Corporate Market Department at MAAF, where he held positions in Operational Marketing and Strategic Marketing.
From 1999 to 2015, he served in various roles at MAAF: Call centre manager, Director of Health Operations, Compensation Director.
Since 2015, he is Managing Director of MAAF.
Managing Director, GMF
An alumnus of Ecole Polytechnique and Supareo, Edouard Vieillefond spent most of his professional career at the Treasury Department, the Agence des Participations de l’Etat (government investments agency) and then from 2009 at the AMF as Deputy Secretary General.
In 2014, he joined Covéa as project manager reporting to Thierry Derez. His main responsibility at the time was to strengthen risk governance in anticipation of the entry into force of the Solvency II directive.
In 2015, Edouard Vieillefond became Director, Life Insurance at Covéa.
Since January 2018, he is Managing Director of GMF.
Managing Director, Investments
A graduate of "Ecole Polytechnique" and ENSAE and an actuary (IAF), Laurent Tollié began his career in 1990 as Head of Statistical Studies at GMF. In 1994, he became GMF's Technical Director and then Technical Director and IT Director at AZUR-GMF, while serving on the AZUR-GMF Group's Executive Committee.
In 2006, he was named GMF's Deputy Managing Director of Insurance and became a member of Covéa's General Management Committee. Then, Laurent Tollié was named Chief Executive Officer of GMF in the Insurance Department.
Since January 2018, he is Covéa group's Managing Director of Investments.
Managing Director, Reinsurance and International
A graduate of “École Polytechnique”, the Paris Institute of Political Studies and the ENSAE school of engineering and an actuary, Pierre Michel began his career as insurance commissioner-supervisor before moving on to the Inspectorate General of Finance and then the European Commission.
In 1998, he joined the PartnerRe Group, where he headed the Group life actuarial department before becoming manager of the damage and liability business in Canada.
In 2007, he was invited by the CRR Group to manage the reinsurance of natural disasters before being named Deputy Managing Director in charge of finance.
He served as Executive Officer of the French Insurance Federation from September 2014 to June 2016.
Pierre Michel joined Covéa in 2016 and became head of the Group's reinsurance activities (excluding health and personal protection) in early 2017.
Since January 2018, he is Covéa group's Managing Director of Reinsurance and International.
Managing Director, MMA
An engineer and graduate of the Paris IAE business school, Didier Bazzocchi began his career in 1983 at the Ministry of Health as a project manager reporting to the Director of Hospitals. He co-founded the SANESCO consulting firm (strategy and organisation, hospital IT consulting) in 1986, where he was Chief Executive Officer until 1989 before joining Coopers - Lybrand Consultants (Pricewaterhouse Coopers) as Health Director.
Between 1995 and 1999, he held the position of Deputy Managing Director of the Fédération Nationale de la Mutualité Française (national federation of French mutual companies). In 1999, he was named Managing Director of Mutuelle Générale.
He joined Covéa in 2008 as Deputy Managing Director and held operational positions at MMA and supervised health activities at the Group level.
In 2013, he was named Managing Director, Health & Personal Protection. Then he also became Director of Institutional Partnerships.
From January to December 2018, he was Covéa group's Managing Director of Institutional Partnerships.
Since December 14, 2018, he is Managing Director of MMA.
Director, Strategy, Customer, Transformation
Holder of an International Master's degree (ICN Business School) and an Executive MBA (HEC Paris), Juliette Baudot began her career in 1997 in a consulting company abroad.
In 2002, she joined the french subsidiary of Multiasistencia, a spanish group specialising in the management and the repair of claims, within which she carried out several missions in the field of operations and marketing of services
She joined Covéa AIS (Claims Management of Covéa group) in 2009 to take the Direction of the Fire and Casualty Performance Center where, on the behalf of MAAF, MMA and GMF, she managed providers networks, structured compensation policies to the policyholders and implemented innovative services for the management of Fire and Casualty claims.
In 2013, Juliette Baudot was named Managing Director of DAS, a Covéa's subsidiary specialising in Legal Protection.
Since January 2018, she is Covéa group's Director of Strategy, Customer, Transformation.
Director, Individual Property and Casualty
Valérie Cohen received a postgraduate degree in Decision-Making Techniques in 1987 and an actuarial degree from the IAE business school in 1999. In 2002, she completed her studies at the CHEA (Centre des Hautes Etudes d’Assurances - Advanced Insurance Studies Centre)..
She began her career in 1990 at GMF as a comprehensive home and private insurance product manager. She then held the position of Audit Manager at GAN for three years. From 1996 to 2003, she was Technical Backup Manager and then Marketing and Sales Information System manager at GMF.
Over the next 12 years, she served as Technical Director, Individual Property and Casualty at AZUR-GMF and Technical Director, Property and Casualty and Health at GMF before being named Covéa’s Technical Director, Individual Property and Casualty in February 2015.
Since January 2018, she is Covéa group's Director, Individual Property and Casualty.
